PCE Price Index, explained.
A US inflation measure based on personal consumption expenditures. The core version is the Federal Reserve's preferred inflation gauge.
Why it moves markets
Because the Fed watches it closely, a surprise can shift expectations for US interest rates. It often moves markets less than CPI because CPI comes out first and gives a strong hint.
Who publishes it, and when
US Bureau of Economic Analysis. Monthly, near the end of the month.
Pairs that often react
EUR/USDUSD/JPYXAU/USD
Pairs that include the currency involved usually react most. How much and in which direction depends on the surprise against expectations and on everything else going on. This isn't a prediction.
Educational only. Not advice and not a signal. Spreads often widen and prices can gap around big releases.
